phpbb2 plus login problems

can't find any memory settings there (thats quite unusual)
upload_max_filesize = 16M - thats not the value im talking about.

so do they know what they are on about ?
and what should i be asking them to do ?

memory_limit = xyM
as defined im php.ini

sorry its been a while,
but my providers have upped the limit to 10mb Smile

and say they cant set it any higher as it would be a security issue ?
what sort of security issues could this bring up then ?

so is it easy to backup my database and change providers ?
could i do a seamless crossover ?
and when i backup my database does that backup everything thats been added since the clean install ?
i know all the pics etc will have to be reinstalled onto new providers space, but will i keep all the posts / members from this foum and re install on a new forum ?

its nearly easy:
(once again here)

1) download mysqldumper from www.mysqldumper.de/board
2) install twice - old space + new space
3) backup existing Database and transfer to new space to ...mysqldumper/work/backup
4) restore database at new space
5) transfer all of the old ftp-space (corresponding to your forum - i.e. /phpBB2 or so)
via Harddisk to new space
6) set file & folder permissions as told in your install-instruction again
- change db parameters in config.php
- empty folder /cache
- set new servername and script-path and cookiename in table {phpbb_}config

ok still arguing with hosts over php memory limit Smile

they set it to 10mb after all the above problems,i was having problems with the site again and i asked them to increase it to 16mb at least they say they did but on checking -

they have reduced it back to 8mb

their email says the following -

"Dear Customer,

The values you are getting from php.ini file, by dufault memmory limit is 8 MB on server php.ini but as per your request we have increased to 16M we have set this in your .htaccess file.

Thanks for your cooperation."

im not sure what this means and if it is what i require all i keep checking is the values in you cooltestmail.php file and they say 8m ?

sorry, this testtool reads the settings from the ini.
use ftp and have a look at your .htaccess.
additionally ask sysinfo from the acp
if .htaccess has set providers announced value - rename php.ini
