There's not much that we can do unless you have a backup database. The hacker deleted everything. Your forum is outdated, I would strongly suggest that you upgrade to the latest version to prevent this from happening again. And make sure that you always keep your forum uptodate. Hackers will continue using security holes to hack your forums if your phpBB is not uptodate.

Depends on what you want, do you want the Plus Version? If yes, then you need phpBB2 Plus 1.52 or 1.53 (Beta version).

If you want it to be just like you had it already, then you need phpBB 2.0.18

Hello, I have a same problem. I have a Russian Christian site that has a lot of youth comming and enjoying the company for God's glory.

My site was also Hacked by this guy. I didn't realize it untill I tryed to login to my forum and it said that my admin user doesn't exist. I have another admin username that I can use to go into the forum admin section.

The hacker made a new section in the forum and took over the forum/index page. So when I go to that page it starts up with my page and then switches to his page with a satin picture.

I can't do anything about it because I don't know where to start. I asked my webhost to give me backup files from Sep. and they did. But I don't want to loose all the conversations since Sep. Plus I have been modifying the forum with phphacks so I don't want to have any problems with replacing the files. Plus I don't know if it's a Database proble or just files problem or combenation of both.

My site is http://youth4j.org
the main forum is http://youth4j.org/forum/
the forum login is http://youth4j.org/forum/admin/

Can you please help me.
God Bless

Hi
It seems this hacker is extremely active. Our forum has been hacked too. Sad
Dont theese hackers have anything better to do than destroy other peoples work ?

Could you please give me a hand and fight off the attack ?

Our forum is at http://wacc.dk/phpBB2/index.php

I learnt here, that I need to upgrade phpbb, and will do so first thing, when the hack is removed.

You two can send me the same information I have asked other users and I will look it up.

But it is not too hard to fix this hack. What the hacker is doing is that he/she uses a security whole (I do not know which hole) and get into your database or your ACP and create a new forum (or just edit one you already have), then he/she add some html code in the forum description.

To fix this problem, you only need to go to your ACP and then find the forum where the hacker added the code and edit/delete it. Then you should be fine.

This is only for phpBB vanila. For Plus, the hacker adds or/and edit a banner and ads an html code as well. To fix th9is problem, you only need to go to the ACP-->Styles Admin--->Banner, then find the banner in questioni and remove the additional html code.

When you remove the hack, UPDATE YOUR FORUM IMMEDIATELY

Thanx for the answer.
I looked closer at the database - and found several tables which had been altered.
Tried to fix them - but administrator panel was gone - administrator user was gone ... and so on.
So I re-installed phpbb2 IN THE NEW VERSION of course and will now re-build the forums.

Anyhow - you set me off in the right direction - looking at the database.

Thanx
