I have 2 domains & 2 databases, my original forum is giving my an error that nobody seems to know how to fix. So I have set up a brand new phpbb2 clean forum, now what I need to know is, how do I transfer all my members, posts & topics accross to the new one? I assume that I will need to use phpmyadmin, which i have already setup, all i need now is to know how this can be done please??? |

Make a backup:
1.)
Login in into your phpmyadmin with your configuration data (username, password)
2.)
Click on your databasename(db_USERNAME, --> BILD 1 ).On the right side of the window there should appear all your tables of your database.
3.)
Next thing is a little bitt difficult to explain, because i don't know how the things are called in the english version of phpmyadmin. But simply set a cross at all the red circles you can see in the picture below.
In the little scroll-down-list mark all the tables you have for your forum (standart is phpbb_)
Important is the part which is called "Struktur und Daten" in german. It means that it's not just the structure of the tables but the whole thing with all the informations inside the tables...
Set a cross at send and click ok, a download-window should appear
Bild 2
Resave Backup:
Do Point 1 and 2 again!
3.)
Scrool down the window on the right hand side, till you see a boy similar to the one below in the picture. Click the browse-button and search for .sql-file.
Then click OK
Bild 3
The next thing is a security warning. Before recopying the files, you have to delete the old ones. If not, there would be an error message that column phpbb_attachment would exist already or something like that.
If there are any questions left, feel free to post them here.

Would it not have been easier to modify the config.php file? |
